Letter to the Philippians
Real Righteousness
In Philippians 3:1-20, Paul tells his story to turn people's minds to the image of Christ. He reveals how his values have changed since becoming a Christian.
Paul starts by reminding us to "rejoice in the Lord." He urges his readers to be wary of impostor teachers, those who required Jewish circumcision, or other rituals as part of salvation. The true "circumcision" are those who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus. Paul's credentials, according to Jewish tradition, were impeccable. And yet, none of his achievements are more valuable to him than his relationship with Christ. As a result, he encourages that the believer's undivided concentration should be on Christ.
